Consumer Product Safety: Device Use and Emerging Risk This is a featured page

Because many public health interventions for child safety involve the proper use and installation of safety devices, this session will provide a comprehensive review of safety messages, usage tips and applicable consumer standards associated with these devices, including: bike helmets, carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, gun locks, personal flotation devices, and pool safety devices.

The session will also cover general consumer product safety issues, such as recall awareness and the role of voluntary/involuntary standards in keeping kids safe. In addition, a representative from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) will discuss emerging hazards that may pose risks to children.

This is a particularly good session for new (or fairly) new coordinators. You will leave this seesion knowing a lot more about some of the major safety devices that will consume your attention as a Safe Kids Coordinator or member.

I would like a few "seasoned" coordinators to attend also to chime in with their own experiences.
